Love Hate by Ruth Houston

"Description"
OK, I admit it. I'm in love with him... my Mum's best friend's son! Bad right? Worse. He's come to stay at my house for an entire month! And it doesn't help that he's an arrogant ass or the fact that my stepsister wants him too... Save me?
"Review"
This was the most ridiculous book I've ever read in my entire life. Characters are so bad that instead of liking them I hated them. I had high hopes for this one although the description doesn't tell you much but still it sounded like a good book, unfortunately it turned out to be a total waste of time. After reading the whole thing I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry at the far-fetched totally unrealistic plot ever written. So I know that this was a fiction and fantasy where writers have every right to bend the realities but at least they "sound" realistic unlike this book.
It was all bad though, it started out quite well. We see a girl, Amber, whose childhood crush has come to live with them and she is awkward around him, she is funny and cute. Her witty remarks always made me laugh. Her stepsister on the other hand is total evil and they have a love hate relationship with each other. Now here I got the wrong idea that this book might focus on the relationship of two sisters, which seemed to be the case in the beginning but very soon the focus diverted to Tristen's and Amber's story. The hero is not someone you can like, his actions are completely immoral and there isn't even any rational justification provided for them. for example when he beats Lucas, who was Amber's the boyfriend, I kept thinking that there must be some kind of explanation later on, may be Lucas was the bad guy and we just don't know yet and Tristen knows so that might be the reason..... but no there was no explanation other than Tristen was jealous.
By the end I was rooting for Lucas, he should have been the hero and Amber should have realised what an idiot Tristen actually was but unfortunately it didn't end that way. It does have some really funny scenes though and may be if I weren't expecting too much I'd have enjoyed the ridiculousness of the whole thing as it was funny and cute but unfortunately I wasn't looking to laugh but be warmed by the love story of two young people. Anyhow it did end up making me laugh a lot ;)
