A Graceful Mess by Nacole Stayton

"Description"
Hiding behind the anguish from my past, my coyness seeps off of me like an aroma. I have felt like a stranger in my own skin, trying to claw my way out for far too long, allowing very few people to see past my façade…until my eyes met with his. I felt a sudden rush of energy all the way to my core. It jolted me in ways I never thought possible.

Never in a million years would I have expected to be in the mess I am today. It all leads back to the night Parker Porter turned my world upside down. The night his hazel eyes undressed me, peeling away the layers of the woman I tried so hard to be. He awoke desires that burned deep within me and changed me in one quick glance, leaving me vulnerable and exposed, picking up the shattered pieces of my carefully constructed life…a life I should not be living…a life I was not born into, but placed into by the state of Maine.

Parker opened a door that I am far from closing until I have answers and am able to face the life I was destined to live. I just have to decide if his love is worth the mess.

"My Favourite Quotes From the Book"
“They say be careful of the quiet ones.”
–Grace
"If you've never been a life or death situation, it might be hard to explain what actually happens. You can read all the books in the world, or watch those lifetime movies I've seen my mother watching too many times to count, but until you are facing death in the face, it is an indescribable feeling."
–A Graceful Mess,  Nacole Stayton

"He taught me to let go, to love, to explore, and to be comfortable simply being me. In the process, looking back, I guess we healed each other."

"Review"
It was a mess, it wasn't graceful but it was worth it. Grace is damaged from inside but over the years she had learnt to fake it to be normal. She couldn't let people close to her, didn't trust them, didn't want anything to do with relationships or love, been there done that and had a scar to show for it. Then she met Parker, he was unlike anyone else. With him she felt safe and loved. she was sure that he was one person who would never betray her, would always protect and cherish her. So she couldn't help but fall in love with him.
Parker had never met anyone like Grace. She was his job, he was supposed to follow her and report to her biological father not fall for her but that was exactly what he managed to do. Now he was in a mess, he was hiding his work from Grace and on the other hand trying to protect her from himself. Then when Grace was attacked by her psycho ex-boyfriend all bets were off, he had to put her safety first no matter what.
On the other hand Grace was also in a mess, Brody was back, her worst nightmare had become real. Then other things start to unravel, a dark secret from her past, betrayal of her parents and Parker and she was lost again.
It was a great book. It was about two broken people who healed each other and became whole again. The book will pull you in, you will not be able to put it down once you start it. There is enough suspense and action to make it enjoyable. One of the best point is its dual POV, I loved being inside the heads of both Grace and Parker. The ending was epic and thankfully there wasn't much drama involved.
