Warrior of the Highlands (Highlands #3) by Veronica Wolff

"Description"
While doing research for her dissertation, graduate student Haley Fitzpatrick stumbles upon a strange artifactā€”which sends her back in time to old Scotland, directly into the path of the notorious Alasdair MacColla, a warrior known for his enormous physical presence and bloodthirsty reputation.

Assuming that this woman with the mysterious accent is an enemy spy, MacColla promptly kidnaps her. But Haleyā€™s beauty and courage strike a chord in the Highlander, awakening a desire in him that he hadn't known existed.

At first Haleyā€™s frightened by her imposing captor. But she soon discovers that MacColla is much more than the brute that modern history describes, and decides sheā€™s meant to be by his side. But unless she can find a way to change the past, the warrior sheā€™s fallen for is destined to meet a tragic end....

"Review"
I loved this book, but then when don't I? Its a time travel romance about a highland warrior whose thirst for revenge was going to be the death of him and a modern age woman who somehow finds herself in the past. MacColla had to defeat his enemy and get back his clan's land and he wasn't going to stop until he avenged the sufferings of his family and his people. He was strong and ferocious, a famous highland warrior about whom poems were written. He died in a war in Ireland, shot from behind by his enemy.
Haley was studying history and was fascinated by historical weapons. She had read about MacColla and how he died so when she found herself in the past, with the great warrior she knew what might happen. she tried to warn him but he wouldn't listen as he had to fight. There was no way around it.
A beautifully written time travel story, which was hard to put down once I started it. I love stories about highlanders and warriors and this book has it all, time travel, romance, humour, war and of course a highland warrior.
