It is Halloween today and I decided to share some books which are perfect for Halloween reading.
Description
The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly
Description
High in his attic
bedroom, twelve-year-old David mourns the death of his mother, with only
the books on his shelf for company. But those books have begun to
whisper to him in the darkness. Angry and alone, he takes refuge in his
imagination and soon finds that reality and fantasy have begun to meld.
While his family falls apart around him, David is violently propelled
into a world that is a strange reflection of his own -- populated by
heroes and monsters and ruled by a faded king who keeps his secrets in a
mysterious book, The Book of Lost Things.
The Book of Flying by Keith Miller
Description
In Keith Miller's debut
novel, our hero is Pico, a poet and librarian who is and forbidden to
pursue the girl of his dreams - for she has wings, and Pico does not.
When he discovers an ancient letter in his library telling of the
mythical Morning Town where the flightless may gain their wings, he sets
off on a quest. It's a magical journey and coming-of-age story in which
he meets a robber queen, a lonely minotaur, a cannibal, an immortal
beauty, and a dream seller. Each has a story, and a lesson, for
Pico-about learning to love, to persevere, and, of course, to
fly. A gorgeously poetic tale of fantasy for adults, The Book of Flying is a beautiful modern fable and daring new take on the quest narrative.
Gods of The Nowhere: A Novel of Halloween by James Tipper
Description
The ancient Celts
believed that the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead was
at its thinnest on Halloween. It was then that the dead could get
through. But could it work the other way? Could we go to them? Check out
this epic horror/fantasy from author, James Tipper.
Ghosts In The Mirror: Real Cases of Spirit Encounters by Leslie Rule
Description
Whether they are bumping
about our attics, hitchhiking on a moonlight road, or fraternizing with
our reflections, ghosts tantalize us with their secrets."
--Leslie Rule
Meet Leslie Rule-America's real-life ghost hunter with a penchant for sharing authentic, spine-tingling stories of the paranormal.
The Gallup Organization reports that more than 32 percent of Americans have seen a ghost. More than half the population believes in the spiritual, cosmic, or supernatural. To Leslie Rule, such revelations come as no surprise. Rule has spent more than a decade researching specters and spirits and has chronicled her ghostly tales in three previous titles, Coast to Coast Ghosts, Ghosts Among Us, and When the Ghost Screams.
Inside Ghost in the Mirror, Rule documents more than dozens of stories of paranormal apparitions that reveal themselves on the other side of the looking glass.

It by Stephen King
Description
The story follows the
exploits of seven children as they are terrorized by an eponymous being,
which exploits the fears and phobias of its victims in order to
disguise itself while hunting its prey. "It" primarily appears in the
form of a clown in order to attract its preferred prey of young
children. The novel is told through narratives alternating between two
time periods, and is largely told in the third-person omniscient mode.
It deals with themes which would eventually become King staples: the
power of memory, childhood trauma, and the ugliness lurking behind a
façade of traditional small-town values.
Classic novellas,
never-before-published stories, essays on the history, literature, and
films of Halloween, and real-life memories of October 31st-from today's
best practitioners of fear.
