Zoe is used to taking care of herself and has long ago accepted that if anything bad was going to happen, it was going to happen to her. This second book was even better than the first one. I think Zoe was more entertaining and this book has some really funny scenes.
Trevor was her landlord and he was a selfish one. Who used her things and tormented her without any regard for her feelings. And when his off-handed comment about her "weight" hurt her he realised his mistake and felt bad. After that because of his guilt he tried to be extra nice to her. even found her a job at his uncle's construction company. There she met Haley and for the first time she had a friend, someone she could talk to and have fun with. She was happy. Things also got better with Trevor but he didn't want to show that he had a soft corner for this woman and never defended her when anyone made fun of her.
Zoe was very insecure because she thought she was not pretty and no one like Trevor would ever be serious about her.
In the end everything turned out to be fine though as Trevor was truly in love with her and nothing was going to change that.
