Frostbite (Vampire Academy #2) by Richelle Mead

Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2)

"Blurb"
Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

Itā€™s winter break at St. Vladimirā€™s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academyā€™s crawling with Guardiansā€”including Roseā€™s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasnā€™t bad enough, Roseā€™s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Masonā€™s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissaā€™s head while sheā€™s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academyā€™s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vladā€™s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

"Review"
I liked this one even more than book one of the series. In this book characters face Strigoi and didn't come out unscathed. We also get to meet Rose's mother and see their relationship in a new light. A lot of things about her started making sense. Rose's character is at its best and again she made me laugh a lot.

At the beginning of this book Dimitri and Rose stumbled upon a massacre and they realised that things are going to change. All of a sudden Strigoi became a very real danger to all Moroi population but especially the royals. Rose is worried about Liss's safety and she didn't want to deal with sudden appearance of her mother at the academy. Although she is not there for her but with her Moroi but still Rose get to talk to her and it didn't end well. towards the end things did get a little better between mother and daughter. after facing Strigoi in real life, Rose started seeing things from a different perspective. She grew up a little.

In this second book the romance side of the story also got a little better. It was easier to connect with the characters and for that reason I'll give it 5-stars. I think I am going to read the rest of this series as well. It seems to be improving. :)
