Review: Love Potions (Warlocks MacGregor #1) by Michelle M. Pillow

Love Potions (Warlocks MacGregor, #1)

Synopsis
A little magickal mischief never hurt anyone...

Erik MacGregor, from a clan of ancient Scottish warlocks, isn't looking for love. After centuries, it's not even a consideration...until he moves in next door to Lydia Barratt. It's clear that the shy beauty wants nothing to do with him, but he's drawn to her nonetheless and determined to win her over.

Lydia Barratt just wants to be left alone to grow flowers and make lotions in her old Victorian house. The last thing she needs is a demanding Scottish man meddling in her private life. Just because he's gorgeous and totally rocks a kilt doesn't mean she's going to fall for his seductive manner.

But Erik won't give up and just as Lydia let's her guard down, his sister decides to get involved. Her little love potion prank goes terribly wrong, making Lydia the target of his sudden embarrassingly obsessive behavior. They'll have to find a way to pull Erik out of the spell fast when it becomes clear that Lydia has more than a lovesick warlock to worry about. Evil lurks within the shadows and it plans to use Lydia, alive or dead, to take out Erik and his clan for good.

5-Stars Review
After a very long time I have read a book which made me laugh so much. I absolutely loved this magick- romance-mischief. It is hilarious not to mention full of sizzling romance between a warlock and his "inthrall". Not that Lydia is aware or the magick around her. Her grandmother had always been called a "witch" but she has never believed in real magick. She knows a thing or two about potions though. Love Potions is her business and in her small town she is living a peaceful life. She doesn't date.

Then watlocks came to town. Erik is the eldest son and he arives before his big family to make sure that there were no problems with the house and people around town. After all it is not easy to hide magick from people and there are protective spells that are needed so that ordinary people don't detect magickal activity. MacGregor are bunch of hunderds-something year olds. Yet the siblings and cousins like to play magick tricks on each other. Sometimes thing do get out of hands though....

Lydia and Erik had an instant conection. The chemistery between the two is potent. Then Erik realises that she is his "onthrall" and is actually sucking his magick from him. Lydia doesn't realise it and unintentionally used his magick and freaked out. then her granmother's ghosts come to her rescue or maybe she just came to annoy her. In any case this leds her to believe in supernatural and makes things a little easier for Erik to explain.

But what a good story without a good villain? right? So there are some dark forces around Lydia who want to use her to get to erik's magick. If they success Lydia and Erik can both end uo dead. Things get a little intense in the middle but by the time book ends you'd be laughing once again. It is must read for all book lovers and for those who enjoy a good romantic comedy with a paranormal twist.
