Tour Stop + Review: The Reason for Me by Prescott Lane

AP new - synopsis.jpg

Holt

She likes it quick and dirty.

I like orders and rules.

She hates small talk.

I hate to share.

Sheā€™s an open book.

Iā€™m a closed dresser drawer.

She rides a Harley.

And that drives me fā€™ing nuts.

Annalyse and I have both lived in our own personal hells for half a decade.  Sheā€™s learned to love the warmth, and Iā€™m still consumed.  But my new neighbor is stoking more than my libido these days.  We agreed on only pleasure.  But she changed the rules.

And now Iā€™m not even sure what they are.

Maybe thereā€™s a reason she found me that night, maybe thereā€™s a reason I canā€™t stop thinking about her, maybe thereā€™s a reason for the pain.  Maybe not.

We all look for reasons in life.  Reasons for death, love, pain.  Why one thing happens and not another?  Itā€™s human nature.  Weā€™ve been looking for the meaning of life since the beginning of time.  But maybe the reason for all of it ā€” life, love, loss, heartache ā€” is the curvy brunette living next door.

Annalyse

ā€œYou should have on a life jacket.ā€

ā€œWhen I kayak or when I ride my motorcycle?ā€ I ask.

He tries not to smile, but he does.  ā€œPissed, huh?ā€

ā€œObservant, arenā€™t you?ā€

ā€œMotorcyclists are twenty-five percent more likely to die and five times more likely to be injured than a passenger in a car,ā€ he says.

ā€œYou looked that up just to lecture me, didnā€™t you?ā€

ā€œNot the point,ā€ he says.  ā€œNo more motorcycle.ā€

Did he really think he could go all alpha male on me?  Usually, it would be hot as all-get-out to see a man in control, dominant, but right now alpha equals asshole!   Note to self ā€” I should do a blog post on that.  Where have all the good alphas gone?  ā€œWho do you think you are?ā€ I say, walking away.  ā€œYouā€™re not my husband or my father.  Come to think of it, I wouldnā€™t let my father or husband order me around like this.ā€

His fingers lightly touch my elbow.  It isnā€™t a grab.  I barely feel it, and as quickly as he touched me, itā€™s over.  ā€œIā€™m a doctor.  Iā€™ve seen what . . .ā€

ā€œYouā€™re a gynecologist!  Youā€™ve seen what a motorcycle can do to a vagina?ā€

Oh God, Iā€™m in trouble.  Heā€™s got the dirtiest look in his eye.  ā€œIā€™d imagine the vibration would feel pretty damn good.ā€

I canā€™t help it and bust out laughing.  ā€œYou are impossible.ā€

ā€œAnd itā€™s the law to carry a life vest for every person in a kayak,ā€ he says.
I roll my eyes.  ā€œYou like rules.ā€

ā€œI like order.ā€

ā€œOrdering people around,ā€ I say.

ā€œOnly certain people,ā€ he says.

Donā€™t ask me why, but the thought of him ā€œorderingā€ me around made my legs clench together, or maybe it was the mention of vibrations.  Either way, the idea of him taking control of my body didnā€™t sound bad to me at all.  It would be nice to not think so damn much all the time and just feel something good for a change.

I loved this book. It is an interesting and very emotional contemporary romance. I liked the characters and story as well. For me it was a kind of book which you just devour. It kept me captivated and intrigued until the very end. It is a story about two people who have experienced tragedy too early in life and it has changed them forever. Both are too broken to think about relationships or happily-ever-afters. Although they cannot deny their mutual attraction. So a no-strings-attached kind of relationship seemed only fitting. Little did they know once they started spending time together it will be almost impossible not to fall in love.
