Synopsis
A horse race in trousers on Rotten Row. Visiting a gaming hall in a dress that would make her mother faint. Sneaking an invitation to a masquerade ball attended by only the wickedest, most debauched members of society…
None of these things are scaring off bookish but strong-willed Amelia Bishop’s stuffy, egotistical fiance.
The only thing left is to entice childhood friend Nicholas Wakefield into a truly engagement-ending scandal. The Wakefields are the height of propriety, and Nicholas’s parents have made it clear a wife from the neighbouring Bishop family would be unacceptable…
But Nicholas would give up his family and his fortune if Amelia would ever see him as more than just a childhood friend. He’ll go along with her scheme, even if it means ruining them both, because he’s got a plan that will change her mind about him being merely the boy next door.

Review
I loved it! It's a well-written story. Characters are also well developed. I especially adored Mia. She is exactly the kind of heroine I love to read about. She is funny, strong, fiercely loyal to those she loves, and a beautiful person inside and out. I think this book is a must reads for historical romance fan, and I'd definitely be recommending it to my friends.
Amelia Bishop has always had feelings for her childhood friend Nicholas. But he doesn't feel attracted to her, she knows that. Therefore, when the first person asks her to marry she says yes. After all she must marry. Because of her sister disability the family has been shunned for too long. This is her mother's chance to re-enter the society. Also her sister wants to live through her so at the time her decision to get married seemed reasonable. Now she isn't so sure. Firstly, her betrothed is not as perfect as he seemed before. Secondly, Nick is back and re-igniting all her feelings for him. May be it will be best for her if she never marries at all. But now it seems that she is stuck with her decision unless she does something truly scandalous.
Nick can't believe Amelia is engaged. He had hopped that he'd finally get a chance to confess his feelings and propose to her. He knows that his parents will never approve of the Bishops but he is in love, has been for a very long time, therefore, he needs to think of his own feelings for once in his life. Apparently it's too late. Soon Mia will be married and he will have to live with his regret. He was a coward, he should have proposed to her a long time ago but he feared his parents disapproval. But soon he realises that things might not be how they seem. May be Amelia is not happy and he can convince her to marry him instead. Although it looks like she has sworn off men altogether. He still hopes to convince her otherwise but first they must get rid of her overbearing fiance and then he can focus on wooing her.
This story is funny, romantic, and highly entertaining. Amelia and Nicholas are both wonderful characters. I really enjoyed reading it.
