Review: When a Lady Desires a Wicked Lord (Her Majesty’s Most Secret Service #3) by Tara Kingston

Synopsis
Brilliant Egyptologist Alexandra Quinn is stunned when the man who’d shattered her young heart rescues her from an intruder at the last minute. Forced to work with the rakish Lord, they must identify a cunning murderer who’s left a blood-drenched trail from Cairo to London. Alex knows better than to trust Benedict, but the wicked promise in his kiss tempts her.

Benedict Weston, Viscount Marlsbrook, never wanted to be a hero. For years, he’s plundered antiquities in his quest to restore his family’s debt-ridden estate. Now, a killer has targeted the only woman he’s ever loved—the woman he craves with a soul-deep hunger. He’ll do whatever it takes to protect Alex—even from himself.
Review

This is such an interesting historical novel with touch of mystery and intrigue. I really enjoyed it. The story is about a mystical map that leads to hidden treasure. Someone is willing to kill a lot of people to get to that map and they won't stop until they find it. Consequently Miss Quinn is in grave danger, everyone thinks she has the map. She has no idea if she do indeed possess such a map or not but she must solve this riddle not only to save herself but also to find the killer. She is willing to work with Benedict to find out who murdered the Professor. Benedict is not someone she trusts completely, however, she knows that he would never knowingly hurt her.

Benedict is in London to protect Alex and to find the map. He has his own motives to unravel this mystery but one thing is for sure; he still cares for Alex and would do anything to protect her. Even if it meant putting himself in harm's way. They were once close friends and lovers, they can be again. Only if Alex forgives him and he is willing to open up to her. There are things about him that he doesn't want her to know. He wants her to trust her though. It's a very difficult situation for both of them. Whether they get their second chance or ruin everything good between them is yet to be seen...
It's well-written and all the characters are really great. I found this book quite entertaining and would recommend to all historical fiction fans. It was well worth the read.

P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley.
