Review: Envy (The Deadly Seven, #1) by Lana Pecherczyk

Envy (The Deadly Seven, #1)

Synopsis

How can a hero save the world if he can't save himself?
Crime rages in Cardinal City. The fanatical Syndicate’s answer is to be judge, jury and executioner, even if that means destroying half the world to eradicate sin. The only thing standing in their way is a family of fearless vigilantes known as the Deadly Seven.

Created in a lab with his brothers and sisters, Evan Lazarus can sense deadly levels of envy, but when he’s blamed for a mass tragedy, it tears him and his heroic family apart. As the Deadly Seven self destructs, Evan loses himself in the city’s ruthless cage-fighting scene, slowly falling prey to the sin he was created to fight. His only hope is to find a partner who embodies his sin's opposing virtue, the last thing he expects to find is his soulmate…

Doctor Grace Go almost died in the blast that killed her parents, and learned a valuable lesson: envy eats nothing but its own heart. So she forged a life filled with purpose and now seeks justice for the survivors. When she crosses paths with a fiercely protective but damaged hero, a desire she thought long gone is ignited. But Grace is wary of risking her brittle heart on a disgraced hero, even if she can’t seem to stay away from him.

When a figure from Evan’s past emerges, in league with the Syndicate, their evil scheme threatens to destroy everything Evan holds dear. Pushed to the limits, he will have to pull his family from the brink of oblivion and become the hero the city needs, or will envy drive him to destroy Grace and his only chance at love and redemption forever?

Envy is the first full length novel in The Deadly Seven Vigilante Romance Series. If you like your superhero movies and TV shows, and your paranormal romance band of brothers and fated mate books, then you'll fall head over heels with the tortured heroes and sassy heroines of The Deadly Seven.

Review

This is an amazingly thrilling read, I had such a hard time putting it down once I started reading. I lived all the characters and the story is very engaging. I especially enjoyed the dynamic between the Lazarus family. How the siblings act towards each other was too much fun to read about. It is an action-packed, full of intrigue romance that I would recommend to all readers. If you like superheroes and vigilantes then it is a treat for you. A very well-written and highly entertaining story that kept me up late at night. I haven't enjoyed a novel as much as I did this one in quite a long time. It was very refreshing to read for me as I don't usually go for this genre. I am so glad that I made an exception in this case but then I love Lana Pecherczyk's work and knew that it won't disappoint me.

Evan has been fighting crimes on his own since his family disbanded. He had been hurt by their distrust and trying to punish himself for his own foolishness. He is Envy, one of the Seven Deadly sins. His entire life has been a struggle just like his adoptive parents and his siblings. They were created in a lab with one purpose, to destroy sin and make the world a better place. Unfortunately, their creator had a different opinion on how to go about it so their mother decided to save them while sacrificing herself in the process. Their past has always weighed the siblings down and it has never been easy for them to live normal and ordinary lives. However, that is what most of them want. But not Evan, he wants to live his life the way his adoptive parents had envisioned, helping the world and protecting his city. And if he had to do that alone then so be it. That is until he meets his true mate and things change for him once again...

Doctor Grace Go has only one mission in her life; to find the person behind the attack that killed her parents and so many others. Her investigation leads her to Evan. The man is a pure mystery, she has no idea what to make of it, but one thing is for sure, he does something to her heart and she finds herself attracted to him no matter how much she tries not to. But can she trust him is another question entirely. In any case, she is going to uncover the truth no matter what and make sure that justice had been served.

I really enjoyed reading Evan and Grace's story and can't wait to read more in this series.
