Review: Fury Unleashed by N.J. Walters

Fury Unleashed

Synopsis

Maccus Fury, a fallen angel, is trying hard to keep his sanity. It seems being an assassin might be catching up with him. Now, Heaven, or Hell, has sent a beautiful assassin to kill him. Lovely. Sheā€™s pretending to seduce him, and heā€™s okay with that. Sheā€™s smart and snarkyā€“ā€“but she has no idea what sheā€™s walked into. And heā€™s more than peeved that they only sent one person. Theyā€™re going to need an army if they want him dead.

Morrigan Quill is one of Hellā€™s bounty hunters. She sold her soul to keep her sister safe, and now sheā€™s working off her contract by catching bad guys and dragging them back to hell. Just a hundred years to go. When Hades makes her a new offerā€“ā€“thatā€™s definitely too good to be trueā€“ā€“she canā€™t say no. All she has to do is kill a powerful and crazy-hot fallen angel, who will totally kick her ass in battle.

Good thing he wonā€™t see whatā€™s coming next.

Review

This is an interesting take on demons and angels mythology. I enjoyed reading it. Maccus is a fallen angel and a trained killer. He has lived on earth for centuries now and there is no being who is more powerful than him. He has no weaknesses and heaven and hell both leave him alone. That is until Morrigan enters the picture. She is a hell's bounty hunter. Her soul belongs to Lucifer. But against all odds, Maccus wants her and also wants to keep her safe. But do they even stand a chance when heaven and hell both are against them?

There are some twists and turns along the way. The story is gripping but more than anything else it is a steamy hot romance novel. Perfect for lovers of paranormal romance. I loved all the characters and overall, I think it's a good read. However, there were a few boring parts where the story just seemed to be dragging. I confess, I skipped a few chapters here and there. Maybe readers who like slow-paced books would love it more than me.
P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley.
