Review: Kaurageously Yours by Gurpreet Dhariwal

Synopsis

We all need a voice at the end of the day, and what a beautiful and courageous voice has stood up in ‘Kaurageously Yours’!

Gurpreet Dhariwal shows in her poetry the beauty of her authentic soul and the rising of her voice. She stands up for all those who have been through depression, anxious and suicidal thoughts. For all those whose voice was silent because people did not understand their mental illness. If only people understood the problems of others, this world could have had fewer suicidal cases than we witness nowadays, is one of the messages.

In this beautiful poetry book, you will experience parts of her warrior soul. It is impossible not to relate to her vulnerability. It makes you think of strong women that pave the path for equality and compassionate love. It shows you how we can all, against the odds, overcome our ‘demons’ and give an example of how we can become and live our truth.

Review

Sometimes you need words to paint a picture and at others, a picture alone is worth a thousand words. Kaurageously Yours is a beautiful collection of the two. I loved both the words and the art. There is so much emotion between these pages that it will render you witless and leave you breathless. It talks about self-love, depression, anxiety, injustice in the world, and it gives voice to the voiceless. Oh, and what a beautiful voice it is!

Every poem and every piece of art will speak to your soul and ignite a fire in you that will motivate you to be better; to do better. I absolutely adored every single word. Some poems, like “Mind-Games,” “I Am Not Scared,” and “My Heavy Heart” will stay with me forever. I’m so glad that I picked up this book and I would recommend it to all readers. It’s a must-read, especially if you are someone who loves words that speak the universal language of humanity.

I will not claim to know the meaning behind these poems or the message that was intended, but I can tell you this; Kaurageously Yours told me to be human, to be kind, strong, and to speak up, not only for myself but also for the people who cannot speak up for themselves. This is the main takeaway for me. I find this message to be a necessary and a timely one. In a world where no man is an island, let’s walk together, holding hands and supporting each other in this fight against evil. Whether it’s inside or outside of us, together, we can slay every demon that comes our way. Stay connected and become love, just like the poetry in this book.
