Review

A fitting conclusion to a wonderful series. I have followed this series since the very beginning and have loved each and every book. These are beautifully written, exciting books about genetically modified siblings who begin to show superpowers as soon as they meet the person they are destined to be with. The premise is a mixture of sci-fiction and paranormal, but the romance factor remains the main focus of each novel in the series. Despair is the last book and I'm having mixed feelings about this. I'm happy to read the conclusion but also, sad that it's over. Anyhow, I highly recommend these books to readers who enjoy fast-paced, hot, and steamy romance novels with a sci-fi twist. Each novel can be read as a standalone. There is an underlying plot that continues from one book to the other. It has been the most enjoyable journey.

Despair aka Daisy Lazarus is no longer the leader she was created to be. She is broken and her instincts are leading her towards violence and revenge. She doesn't think she is worthy of love or even to live. She has done some bad things and doubts she will ever come back from that. But her family believes in her. They are willing to give her a second chance to redeem herself and prove her worth as the eldest Lazarus sibling; a leader.

And then, Alex complicates things. He is her mate and the guy is everything that's good. She doesn't know if she will ever feel worthy of his love. But he isn't going anywhere. Alex understands Daisy the way ever she doesn't understand herself. He knows that she can be a better person. She is selfless, brave, and strong. Nothing much scares her and even though, she thinks it is some biological thing; their attraction, he knows that he loves her. Plain and simple. However, their feelings are the least of their worries. The city they all love is under attack and only the Deadly Seven can save them but first, they need to save themselves.

It's a thrilling story of a family willing to give everything, sacrifice all they have, for the survival of the world they have claimed as their own. No one will stand in their way as they will fight every monster and overcome every hurdle placed in their path. Ultimately, this is Daisy's story so she remains the main focus but since it's also the series conclusion we see all of our favorite characters working together. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would like to thank the author for a complimentary copy. The review is my personal opinion.
