Review: The Heiress Swap by Maddison Michaels

Synopsis

Evie Jenkins didnā€™t know what she was thinking by agreeing to switch places with her American heiress cousin. After all, sheā€™s naught but a poorā€•and usually quite sensible ā€•companion. All she has to do is spend six weeks among London society, pretending to be an heiressā€¦and ensure that absolutely under no circumstances does she accept any proposals of marriage.

When his cousin declares himself in love with a new woman visiting from the States, Alexander Trentonā€•the sixth Duke of Hargraveā€•is determined to prove that the young lady in question is just another American "Dollar Princess" desperate for an English title. She seems innocent enough, but Alex is determined to expose herā€¦by thoroughly seducing the lovely and fiercely intelligent heiress himself.

What he assumed would be just one simple kiss erupts into something wild, uncontrollable, and much too public. Now the duke must save her reputation with a betrothalā€¦little knowing that his charming Princess harbors a secret that would certainly ruin them both.

Review

A beautiful historical romance that will have you keep turning the pages. I absolutely adored the novel, loved the characters, and couldn't put it down. The story flows smoothly and has all the right ingredients; good chemistry, strong voices, deception, and drama. It's a very fulfilling read for a historical romance lover like me.

Evie and Aimee decide to switch places. Evie is back in London, pretending to be her rich cousin and enjoying a season among the wealthiest Londoners. No one would recognize her, and after a few months, she would return to America. Simple enough, right? But things start to fall apart when a Duke becomes interested in her. And not in a good way.

Alex dislikes American Heiresses who are after titled gentlemen and have no regard for anyone's feelings. When he fears that his cousin is becoming involved with the latest arrival from across the sea, he takes it into his hands to prove to him the manipulative, money-minded woman that she is. Unfortunately, his plan backfires, and now he finds himself engaged to the said woman. He is determined to uncover her secrets, but will he be able to protect his heart?

The more they spend time together, the more they fall in love. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to all romance lovers.

P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley.
