I bear the wounds of battle.

I suffer the scars of shame.

A shell of the man I once was, I survive now only to honor my fallen friends.

I have been hardened by war and fractured by guilt, but Jewel Jackson has found
a way into my heart, and I’d die to protect her—even from myself.

~~~~
I have been hurt. My body and my spirit have been beaten down.
I’m struggling to pick up the pieces.
To have a life.
To find my strength.
So what am I to do with Micah Christian—the only man who’s ever truly
threatened my heart?
5-Stars Review
I love Jack 'Em Up series. All books have been awesome but this one is the best. It's a story about two broken souls who heal each other, beautifully written and very entertaining read but also heart-breaking. It will make you laugh and cry both at the same time. I adored both Micah and Jewel. Both have troubled past which makes them perfect for each other. Its not a tragedy but it starts that way. There are some twists and turns along the way which keep things interesting. I have enjoyed reading this whole series. It's a must read for romance lovers.
Micah doesn't that Jewel will ever be interested in him. She is beautiful and he is not the man for her. he has so much baggage that day to day life is a struggle. Still he feels attracted to her, can't help himself because she is just so gorgeous. When she texts him about his friends' party he is a little shocked and gives a reply so unlike him. May be there is a chance for them after all.
Jewel had been hurt in the past. She has her demons and she knows that someone like Micah can never consider her as potential date. He is so handsome and perfect while she isn't pretty at all. So when he shows interest in her she is very happy. Although whether they get past their issues is another question altogether. As much as they are attracted to each other, may be even in love, a relationship between two broken people cannot be an easy thing.
The story is quite exciting and thrilling. It's sweet, and heart warming tale which I'm very glad that I got the chance to read.
Excerpt:
We were so broken, the
two of us. Yet, somehow, together, we made each other whole.
I traced a tiny scar on
his shoulder. “I don’t deserve you.”
“That’s true . . .” I
lifted my eyes to his. “You deserve better.”
Emotion crowded my
chest. “There is no better.”
His face filled with
pain and I found myself comforting him now. We laid back together and I rested
my head on his chest, running my fingertips across his chest, his belly. His
body was so familiar, yet so foreign at the same time. I’d never felt closer to
anyone, more intimate, yet we hadn’t even made love. I could only imagine what
that would be like. I did know, whenever that did happen, that there would be
no going back for my heart. I would be his, body and soul, until my last
breath.
