Review: Cinderella and the Duke by Lydia Drake

Synopsis Miss Julia Beaumont has exactly  one   night to find herself a husband… The Weatherford Ball is the last chance Julia Beaumont has to escape the clutches of her horrid stepmother. Any potential husband will do—rich, poor, even a reasonably well-groomed walrus. But all of Julia’s matrimonial chances are completely obliterated…thanks to the actions of an infuriating and utterly rakish duke. Gregory Carter, Duke of Ashworth, would never risk his cherished bachelorhood by flirting with marriage-starved debutantes. But one look at the luscious and refreshingly clever Julia, and he simply can’t resist a stolen kiss—scandal be damned. Then just as things start getting deliciously interesting, the lady flees…leaving only a slipper behind. And it must have been one dandy of a kiss. Because now Julia has proposed to  him . After all, the lady needs a husband, and this roguish duke will certainly do. It’s simply a matter of making him the perfect scandalous offer… Add to Goodreads Shel

Hollow: A Love Like a Life A ghost spirit of dark's universe falls in love with a ghost spirit of light's universe, and while they cannot meet, for they wander around separate realms and spacetimes, they live their love through a secret and sacred interaction. Add to Goodreads Shelf Review It's a beautiful collection of poems about spiritual love. Some poems have a sad, dark tone while some are positive and uplifting. But mostly, they are about a love that is hard to return. Some lines resonated with me a lot and overall, I enjoyed the book. I'm glad I got a chance to read it. I rarely read poetry and only write inspirational and thought-provoking poems. So, this book is definitely a unique experience for me. I have this personal opinion that you can only fully appreciate poetry when you find it relatable. I want to thank Jazalyn for proving me wrong. I would definitely recommend this book to poetry lovers. Rose: Future Heart A beautiful and charismatic but blowsy and l

Synopsis As far as William Easton―the Duke of Blackheath―is concerned, love can go to the devil. Why would a man need passion when he has wealth, a stately home, and work to occupy his mind? But no one warned the duke that a fiery and frustratingly strong-willed activist like Lady Beatrice Haven can also be a stunning, dark-haired siren who tempts a man’s mind, body, and soul. Lady Beatrice is determined to never marry. Ever. She would much rather fight for the rights of women and provoke the darkly handsome Duke of Blackheath, even if he does claim to be forward-thinking. After all, dukes―even gorgeous ones―are the enemy. So why does she feel such enjoyment from their heated exchanges? But everything changes when Beatrice finds herself suddenly without fortune, a husband, or even a home. Now her future depends on the very man who sets her blood boiling. Because in order to protect his esteemed rival, the Duke of Blackheath has asked for Beatrice’s hand, inviting his once-enemy into hi

Jodie Muir   (Illustrator) Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou   (Letterer) Synopsis Set one year after the death of Dracula, hope is returning to the lands of Transylania, and a young peasant girl named Aurelia dares to dream of a better future, free from the yoke of the devil's hundred years of darkness. A titanic and darkly fantastical reimagining/sequel of Bram Stoker's sanguine classic. Add to Goodreads Shelf Review The cover was the first thing that attracted me to this story. And I'm glad that I got to read it because it's a great story with beautiful art. I'm not a fan of Dracula; never read it. And still, I enjoyed this story. Loved the twist at the end. My only complaint is that it ended abruptly. I felt as if there should be more to this

Synopsis Zoom back into the world of the Treasure Chronicles with this collection of short stories. Clark, Amethyst, and the Treasure gang return with new adventures. Strap on your goggles. Lace up your corset. It's time for a steamy ride. Add to Goodreads Review I loved this short story collection. It made me feel nostalgic for two of my favorite fictional characters ever written; Clark and Amethyst. It was interesting to know a little more about their childhood and life through these short stories. Each story is well written and adds something to the overall narrative. I especially loved the last one, which takes us into the future rather than the past. In any case, it has been fun reading this book. If you are a fan of Treasure Chronicles, this is a must-read. But even if you have read previous books, you can read this and enjoy it for what it is; short anecdotes from the lives of these fictional characters. You can always read Treasure Chronicles after this or before, whichever
